“Meditation will be your spiritual discipline, but flowers of love will still start blooming in your life. Love and meditation are only a matter of your leaning. Otherwise they are like two wings of a bird: if one is cut, the bird cannot fly. They are your two feet, they are like two oars for rowing a boat.”

Zorba the Buddha

Osho is a contemporary enlightened mystic, visionary and a rebel. Born in the small city of Kuchwada in India in 1931, Osho attained enlightenment at the age of twenty-one on 21st March 1953. Osho started his spiritual work in the early Seventies and in no time attracted the attention of seekers from all around the world. Thousands of young people flocked to the exotic ashram in Pune, India to meditate in his presence. Later in 1981, Osho travelled to America, where he established his spiritual commune, Rajneeshpuram. During 1985-1986 Osho also made a world tour and travelled to 21 different countries including the Himalayan kingdom of Nepal, where he stayed for over 40 days.

Osho’s vision was to create the conditions for the birth of a new kind of human being. He often characterizes this New Man as “Zorba the Buddha” – capable both of enjoying the love and earthly pleasures of a Zorba the Greek and the silent serenity of a Gautama the Buddha. His vision for this New Man’ is that of an integrated human that is a synthesis of both East and West, earth and sky, materialism and spirituality. Thousands of Osho’s talks and numerous meditations run a common theme carrying his vision that encompasses both the timeless wisdom of all ages past and the highest potential of science and technology.

A Mystic. A visionary. A revolutionary.
A flowering of a unique intelligence.
